1668281756 APPLICATION OF THE BIRD THEME IN FUREYA KORAL'S CERAMICS IN TILE ART

Ceramic, which has been used for needs in many periods in its historical development, has been applied in different forms and colors by artists since the time it found itself as an art field. Füreya Koral had her name written in history as the first female ceramic artist in the history of the Republic. Koral contributed to the development of ceramic art. She has also been one of the names that prioritized the opening of the doors of contemporary art in Turkey. Füreya Koral put the mud she met when she was fighting tuberculosis to the most important place in her life and did not give up this art until her last breath. She was educated in Paris. In addition to the patterns specific to Western art, she has embroidered the forms, colors and patterns that permeate herself in the lands where she was born and grew up on her ceramics. Adhering to that tradition, she combined traditional art with contemporary art. Besides the panels, plates and human figurines she made, the subject she used the most was birds. The birds flying one after the other at the time of sunset in the Şakir Pasha mansion where he lived in his childhood may have inspired him. In this study, bird motifs used by Füreya Koral in her ceramics were investigated and the same motifs were applied on tile plates.
